Stay
About the destination: Lloret de Mar is a resort city on the Costa Brava, northeast of Barcelona. With a deep seaside tradition, today it is one of the largest tourist centers on Girona's sea front. Beaches and coves with clear water combine with an interesting historic center and a wide range of accommodation and leisure. Walking, golf and water sports are some of the possibilities offered by the excellent temperatures of the mediterranean climate. Terraces, bars and restaurants help you to enjoy the Catalan night, making it possible to taste the region's products. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS Monument to the Fisherman’s Wife This monument is a bronze sculpture found at the end of Lloret beach erected in 1966 to commemorate Lloret de Mar’s Millennium. It is considered to be one of the town’s most emblematic symbols. Legend states that touching the sculpture’s foot while looking out at the horizon will make your wishes come true. Castle os Sant Joan The castle is situated at the top of the hill which separates the beaches of Lloret de Mar and Fenals anddates back to the beginning of the 11th century, possibly from the age of Lady Sicardis and her sons, the Lords of Lloret, when it controlled the feudal territory of Lloret. The origins of the Castle of Sant Joan are the origins of thetown of Lloret. Santa Clotilde’s garden This wonderful garden was landscaped in a setting of great beauty on top of a cliff with breath-taking views over the sea, and it is a fine specimen of the spirit thatanimated the Noucentista movement in Catalonia - an early twentieth-century movement for intellectual and aesthetic renewal that found a distinguished spokesman in the writer Eugeni d'Ors. The Santa Clotilde gardens were designed in the manner of the dainty yet austere gardens of the Italian Renaissance by Nicolau Rubió i Tudurí at the age of twenty-eight.

About the destination: Girona is a one of the biggest towns in Catalonia, enclosed by defensive walls and the Río Onyar. It is located at the north of the region and serves as the capital of the Girona Province, which includes the stunning Costa Brava. This ancient city is medieval and cosmopolitan at the same time, with a well preserved Old Town and full of hip bars and chic shops. The town has an attractive Jewish quarter, an impressive cathedral and several interesting museums. Girona’s cathedral, uphill from the river, can be seen from many points of the city. After walking through the old town you come to a wide stairway leading up to the cathedral. The cathedral has got a beautiful baroque façade and inside it has the widest Gothic nave in Europe. The cathedral is part of the town's historic and archaeological walk which runs along the old town, mostly atop of the city's ancient ramparts. The church of Sant Feliu is the second most important church in Girona, just a few steps away from the Cathedral. This church has a mix between Romanesque and Gothic styles and is dedicated to Saint Feliu, a Catalan saint and martyr. Near the cathedral, we find the Arabic Baths, an imitation of medieval Muslim baths. As a university centre, Girona combines past and vibrant present: art galleries, trendy cafés, and a lively nightlife. It is also a perfect base to explore the surrounding region. It sits just outside of the Pyrenees Mountains and is in close proximity to the beaches of the Costa Brava. It truly is a beautiful part of Catalonia that should be on everyone's itinerary.
